Investment focus
We invest in seed, angel, and Series A rounds, spanning technologies from medical devices to SaaS and DaaS businesses.
Multidisciplinary investors
We are a small group of diverse investors with backgrounds in Big Data, Translational Research, and Medicine, based in the Americas, with activity between Bucaramanga, Colombia, and the western United States.
Specialized interests
Nation West has a special interest in supply chain automation, novel sleep apnea treatments, cellular therapies, and the intersection of IoT and miniaturization.
Global reach
While rooted in the Americas, our reach extends globally, allowing us to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the international market.
Partnerships and growth
We foster partnerships with innovative startups, providing significantly more value than a traditional investor. For example, our portfolio companies leverage our in-house expertise in: healthcare market access, regulatory science and global supply chain dependencies.
Seeking investment?
In addition to traditional equity investments, we consider:
Revenue Participation Financing (RPF)
In this model, investors receive a percentage of the revenue generated by the project until a predetermined return on investment (ROI) is achieved, typically in the form of a profit share or royalty payments. RPF financing typically involves the majority of prototype cost and risk being borne by the investor and is helpful in scenarios where the successful deployment of a prototype nearly guarantees escape velocity into the black--often by way of a Conditional Purchase Agreement or other contingencies.
Clinical Trial Milestone Financing
Funding to biotech or pharmaceutical startups based on the achievement of specific clinical trial milestones, such as successful completion of a phase or enrollment of a certain number of patients.
